What is the position of Jalón?

The location of Jalón is in the South East of Spain, in the zone known as the Costa Blanca. There are several airports which serve this region. The two closest airports include Alicante airport which is approximately 95 km distance from the centre of the town. Alicante airport is located in between the city of Elche and the city of Alicante. The other airport, Valencia airport is located 133 km to the north of Jalón. You may decide to go into the region by Murcia airport from the south, many people do because of the cheap flights, but be aware that Murcia airport is almost 180 km distance.By car, you should come along the AP-7 motorway and take directions from there. Jalón is just past the town of Lliber. Purchasing a map is a necessity if you are coming to Jalón, either that or bring a GPS system with you or anyone with your car. This is especially true if you’re going to do any touring within this area at all.

Jalón accommodation

You can lodge in many different places in the Costa Blanca and in this region including guest houses, hotels, self catering accommodation, and camping facilities. In fact you will find accommodation to suit all pockets. Not only can you find accommodation in Jalón itself, you can also visit the neighbouring towns of Parcent, Alcalali, Senija, Benissa, or Murla. You will find others to rent in the town of Jalón but if you are looking for more accommodation then you should move further field. Many people will take their accommodation in one of the bigger towns and cities and toured the area from there. One of the accommodations that is available in Parcent is called Casa Carrascal and is located on Calle de Dalt, 14, 03792. It not only offers a Hotel experience, it also offers a great dining experience and can be contacted at 679 043 130?. Further afield in the city of Calpe you will find the fully equipped AR Imperial Park Resort Hotel which is situated on La Caleta 28A, 03710 Calpe and can be contacted either by telephoning 902 99 65 69? This is a bit more up market when it comes to price but it offers a hell of a lot more when it comes to facilities with a business centre, an Internet centre, a fitness centre, sauna, so Larry and, Jacuzzi, massage, spa and wellness centre, and swimming pool. It also offers car parking and garage facilities. It is on the outskirts of Calpe and so you will need transportation to get into the centre of Calpe, but if you are looking for a bit of peace and quiet, this hotel is just that you offering spectacular views of the nearby mountains. Book well in advance your accommodation here because the tourist season is very busy and the hotels can become full very quickly. Jalón Car Hire

There is a real shortage of community transportation in this locale so you should truly rent a car if you want to do any kind of traveling or you want to visit neighboring facilities or attractions. There are a load of bars, restaurants, and shops for you to choose from in the main towns and cities if you do not intend to travel any distance, some folks just plan a tranquil vacation. There are some picturesque areas around here and it would be a shame not to see them, and a car hire will permit you to spread out your horizons a bit more. There are quite a few companies in Jalón where you can rent a car, or you can always select to pick up from the airport as you disembark. Almost all the major car companies will have representation at the airport and some of the smaller companies as well. You should find that the prices of car rental are going to be a lot less if you book well in advance.

What to see in Jalón

History

The area surrounding the town bears evidence of settlement dating back to the prehistoric times. However, there is insufficient data on these cultures. The town itself was built by the Arabs residing in the valley but at a much later period. Farms were built beginning the 8th century which included Jalón. During the mid 13th century, the area was occupied by King James I and his troops and the town was attached to the Christian Kingdom. The Moors remained in their respective areas until they were driven out during the start of the 17th century. As the numbers went down, immigrants from other towns and islands started arriving in an attempt to repopulate the villages in the areas of Jalón. Some of the ancestors of the residents of the town of Jalón initially originated from other islands such as Majorca and Ibiza.

Architecture

A number of historical structures still stand to this day. Tours are consistently given which go around the various structures, including the fort built by Felipe II which surrounds the Moorish village. There is also the Ermita de Santo Domingo, the Watermill, the Bassa dels Arcs and the Church of Santa Maria worth seeing. Along the Wells Road, visitors can see the Pozo de las Higueras built in the 17th century, the 19th century Basseta and Azagador and the Pou de les Forques, dated during the 20th century. With following the Route Martorell, there is the Plaza Mayor, the Benibrai farmhouse and Casa Signoria.

Tourist Attraction

The town and village of Jalón are known for its production and selection of wines. Known as the muscat, tourists can sample this local specialty in a number of wine bodegas as well as their locally produced honey. During the week, visitors may take a tour of the numerous vineyards located nearby the village while Saturdays are good for shopping by the riverbed. Tourists may also visit the shops located in the town which sells a variety of handmade candles or visit the local museum which contains some antique photographs.

What to Do

In addition to the natural and manmade monuments, tourists should try seeing at least one of the local festivities held annually. A number of these colorful celebrations are dedicated to the town’s patron saint or other religious figures. Some major festivities include the Romero Day, the Virgin of the Assumption Day, the Virgen Pobre celebrations and the Schutzheiligenfest. The Schutzheiligenfest is a local celebration which each town celebrates in honor of their patron saint. August 4 is allocated for Santo Domingo de Guzman. This is celebrated with parades, a paella contest and the annual running of the bulls. During the last Saturday of the month of April, the Romero day is celebrated. Residents walk up to what they refer to as El Fondo to eat buns and dumplings traditionally created with rosemary. During the evenings, there is dancing at the Plaza Mayor. Residents come to mass the morning after and pray to San Pedro Martir or Verona as well as give offerings consisting of flowers and Costalets rosemary. This is done in the belief that the offerings will provide protection against hail and other possible damage to their crops.

Sport

Jalón residents are fond of sports has several facilities dedicated for playing. These include the CP Virgen Pobre which houses areas a track for indoor soccer and the Municipal Pool which has a pool for recreational swimming. The largest facility is the Municipal PTVO which hosts a number of areas for basketball, handball, tennis and a separate floor on top for martial arts such as judo, taekwondo, aikido and kendo.

Jalon Golfing

With town such as Jalón, golfing options are expected to be found. The region is rich with golf courses known internationally, with towns and accommodations located nearby. There are numerous golf courses near the town of Jalón. These include Las Ramblas Campoamor, Lo Romero, Olica Nova Golf, Real Faura Golf and Ifach Golf Club.

What can you eat in Jalón

This area of Spain boasts food from several parts of the globe. To name a few, there is Spanish, German, Chinese, Dutch, English, Cantonese, and Hungarian. There will be other scrumptious national cooking if you look at. So you will by no means be stuck for something to devour. The weather conditions in Jalón

Sunlight is the common state when it comes to weather in the province and in Jalón. The summer weather conditions are in the main hot with the winter temperatures normally being very temperate. The continuous warmth can at times is often broken up by the anomalous damp day or two. Some of the lightning storms can be spectacular.
