Where is Finestrat?

The location of Finestrat is in the South East of Spain in the province of Alicante, in the zone called the Costa Blanca. Some of the nearest towns are Benidorm, Villajoyosa, Orxeta, Sella, L’Alfàs del Pi, La Nuncia, Altea, and Calpe. You can get to the town via three different airports in the region. The first airport is Alicante airport which is approximately 60 km distance. Murcia airport is approximately 143 km distant and the third airport in the region is Valencia airport which is approximately 157 km from the town centre.

The village is marked by peculiar hanging houses and narrow streets. Finestrat perfectly combines the cosmopolitan attractions of Cala, resort destinations, family friendly, for thousands of Spanish citizens in Europe and other parts of the world, with the silence of the natural high peaks of Puig Campana. With its 1410 meters in height, its proximity to the coast and its peculiar forms, Puig Campana is one of the most emblematic of the Costa Blanca. Without this mountain, you cannot understand the history of Finestrat, because their skirts have kept and cherished as his most precious treasure. Finestrat is a beautiful coastal town and at the same time, mountainous. The village is located just 5 miles from the beach and rises on a hill marked by its peculiar hanging houses and narrow streets of Moorish origin. As you walk through the village you will come across the church of Saint Bertomeu and other religious symbols such as “taulells” Ermita or scenic spots and gardens are scattered throughout the municipality. Every month, recreational facilities are offered in Finestrat there is plenty in the way of cinema, music, theatre, even tourist lectures and cultural tours to suit every taste and age.

Some of the important dates in Finestrat include January 5 which is the feast of the three Kings; this involves a procession and distribution of presence to kids. Of course, as in the rest of Spain, Easter is celebrated with religious processions which can be very mournful. The patron saint of Finestrat is St Bartolome, and during the period of August 20-24 Finestrat almost comes to a halt because of the celebrations and festivities in honor of him. There is always great live music, dancing in the streets, fireworks and plenty of sporting events. Then from September 17-19 are held the festivities to honor the tourists. These are normally held at the beach. There are parades, music, dancing, and children’s entertainment.

The chow in this region is a combination of Spain, England, Germany, Holland, China, India, Canton, and hungry, and I am certain if you look hard enough you will see other enjoyable national cooking. So you will in no way be stuck for something to devour. A good restaurant in Finestrat is La Morena, which is situated on Av de Benidorm.

Weather conditions in Finestrat

Sun is the common state when it comes to weather in the province and the weather in Finestrat. The winters are balmy and sun-drenched the summers are lovely and hot. It does not rain regularly here, but when it does it can arrive in torrents, and the lightning storms here can be totally superb.
