A couple of months before summer vacation, you must be wondering where you should go. Of course you would want somewhere warm, right smack on the beach or somewhere really near it, and a place where you could relax and unwind because you have been working hard all year and deserve that relaxing vacation. Well then, you need not look any further because Spain is the perfect destination for you. You might be thinking right now that there are hundreds of cities in Spain, where exactly should you go. But as you said, you have strict considerations to your travel destination so the best place to go to is Finestrat Spain.

Finestrat is located around 40 kilometers north from Alicante province of Spain, a province known for its white sand beaches and lovely small town appeal. Each village in Alicante has its own quirks and charms and this village has its own share of natural beauty and charm as well.

The village of Finestrat, just like most of the villages and towns in the foot or hills of Alicante, used to be a Moorish settlement during the 13th century. In fact, the Castell de Finestrat, which translates as Castle of Finestrat, was constructed by the Moors to guard the village should the Christians come and attack. However, just a few short years after, the village was taken over by Jaime I of Aragon.

The main village is situated at the base of the slopes of a mountain known as Puig Campana. However, a few kilometers drive from the mountains you will be greeted by the crystal clear water and the fine white sands of the beach. This area is relatively more peaceful and calmer than most of the resorts in the main strip of Costa Blanca.

Its old world and small town charm adds to the cozy atmosphere you would feel as soon as you set foot in the village. Much like any other town in Spain, churches in this part were also preserved, with old ones dating back to the 1700s. There are various infrastructures that are worth visiting in this village, namely the 18th century church of Saint Bartholomew, the Font de Moli, Hermitage Crist de Remei, and La Torre.

If you are interested in small town festivals, Finestrat has its own share of fiestas which are celebrated mostly during Three Kings in January, Semana Santa or Easter, and feast of St. Bartholomew in August.

Every trip to this small town of Finestrat Alicante is much like a trip to the past, a past where life seems to be laid back and simple. A life where you can relax your time away by staring at the clear blue water of the see while waiting for the sky to turn a beautiful red.
