Where to find Facheca

Facheca is positioned in the Costa Blanca, in the Alicante district in between Valencia and Murcia. The Facheca is another one of those small little towns that is nestled into the mountains to the east of the Sierra de Mariola. It’s one of those great little towns that you is going to definitely test all your navigation skills in finding it. The town itself is just off the Av del Caudilo. If you are flying into the district, you will probably be coming through one of the main airports. More than likely you are flying into Alicante International Airport which is just outside Elche. There are many different car hire companies that are represented at the airport so you shouldn’t have any problems booking a car in advance. Or, on the other hand you can book a car from one of the cities. But, see the section below for more information about this. When you are searching out Facheca, you should make sure that you purchase a good map of the area. A good GPS system is also a wise idea and if you do not have your own personal GPS set, most car rental companies will oblige you with a decent GPS system for a small extra fee.

Facheca accommodation

Because Facheca is such a small town it will be very difficult to find accommodation here, especially the large hotels that are to have any down on the coast. There are some self catering holiday cottages in the town but you will have to book early in order to take advantage of these. Many people who come to the Costa Blanca and who want to stay in the mountains around Facheca will often choose one of the more populated towns and cities around the area to stay. The larger towns in the area include Alcoy, Cocentaina, Muro de Alcoy, or even heading further towards the cost of staying in Denia, Javea, or Benidorm. These are the type of tourists who want to tour the mountains but still want to have the facilities that are available in the larger towns. If however you have got your mind set on staying in Facheca and you find that you are having difficulty booking accommodation in the town you should contact the local tourist information bureau as they might be able to help you. Another alternative is to actually ask one of the locals if there is any accommodation that is available in the village at that time. The problem here is that you will need to have some form of accommodation while you are searching in Facheca. Also, you can try some of the neighbouring towns for a place to stay such as Famorca, Benimassot, Tollos, Quatretondeta, Confrides, or Beniarda.

Renting a car in Facheca

You will have guessed by now that Facheca car hire is out of the question. There are so many different car hire companies in the region and it is possible that one or two of these companies will deliver a car to Facheca for a charge. But your answers will be far greater and you will also pay much less if you pick up your rental car at the airport. A few ways to save money when hiring a car in this area is to book your car well in advance and of course you are going to save money if you take the car for a longer period. You do need a car in this area because there is so much to see and do and the public transportation is non-existent.

What to see in Facheca

The quaint town of Facheca is a small municipality situated in Valencia, Spain. It is one of a series of towns located within the province of Alicante. Much like several towns in the area, the village is small, consisting of only 119 residents. This was according to records released in 2007.

The name of the village is said to have been derived from the term Facheca faig, translated as you in the Valencian language. Several towns in the Alicante province were conquered during the Christian conquest. The town was no different and during the 13th century was put under the rule of the Marquis de Guadalest. The first settlers may have been the Moors up until the 17th century when they were forcefully evicted from the area. Up until that time, records have stated that there were approximately 34 Moorish families residing in the village. A parish church was built during the 16th century, connecting the area to the town of Famorca. Because of the climate and weather conditions, olives and almonds grow well in the village. This is what the residents have been growing for some time and have come to rely on it for food and profit.

The town has not grown significantly since its inception. As such, the number of residents that have decided to stay in the village have continued to decline from 414 during the mid 19th century to approximately just a quarter of that number according to more recent records. This has been due to the emigration of residents to larger towns that offer more work. Fortunately, because of the growing tourism sector in the village, the numbers rise to approximately 300 residents during the summer season.

Tourists who decide to visit the village cannot leave without having seen the infamous elm tree located by the Church of the Holy Spirit at the Stresses Square. A few years back, the century old tree was cut down, being infected with a disease. Although only the trunk remains to be seen today, it can still give tourists a good impression of the sheer size of the tree. Tourists may also be interested in seeing the Torre del Pla de la Casa. It is the highest castle located in Alicante. Travelers interested in seeing the culture of the village should attend the village parties. Known as the Facheca fiestas, they are a series of celebrations dedicated to the Virgin of Sorrows and the Holy Spirit. These parties are held annually during the last week of August.

Although the town may be quaint and secluded, tourists would be happy to find that there is something to do for any type of traveler. The village of Facheca is surrounded by magnificent scenery and has successfully preserved its architecture from centuries past. It is a place to rest and relax, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, a true vacationer’s dream.

The Costa Blanca offers a lot more than just the packaged holiday tourism that is laid out for people in the tourist resorts of Alicante. Many people travel to the Costa Blanca every year for the hill walking and Facheca, along with the towns surrounding it is an ideal place to base yourself for this. There are also many more activities that you can partake in if you vacation around these parts. Of course, you can always head down to the coast where you will find the “normal” run-of-the-mill tourist thing. Benidorm has a reputation for youthful entertainment during the summertime and in the wintertime is home to large amounts of retired ex-patriots who have traded the cold and rain of their northern European homes for a more tranquil and laid-back existence in Alicante. Just outside Benidorm is the theme park Terra Mitica which is based on four ancient kingdoms and has a theme park rides to thrill everyone.

If you have come to the area for golfing then you must know that Facheca golfing is almost non-existent. But don’t dismay at this because there are so many excellent golf courses in the Costa Blanca which are suitable for all levels of golfer. Most of them offer golf club hire and golf buggy hire.

Where to eat in Facheca

Aside from the yummy Spanish cooking which is supplied in the province of Alicante, you can try out of this world cuisine from several different nationalities including Dutch, Chinese, Indian, Cantonese, English, and Hungarian. The Spaniards know how to cook excellent food from just basic ingredients. The Muslims brought irrigation to this land hundreds of years ago and changed the land into a foodie paradise. The fresh vegetables that you can buy on the market stalls are unlike anything that you will ever see in your local supermarket. You will see the most oddly shaped fruits and vegetables here, but each piece will have a pure taste that has not been met with in any way. And when the Spanish cook with these ingredients they tend to make delicious food. A couple of the local restaurants in the region of Facheca include bar Restaurante Asador situated in San Bartome, 23, 03827 in the town of Almudaina. This restaurant serves fantastic grilled meats and you will find a great time here with many families enjoying dinner with their children. Also the Restaurant l’aplec which is situated at C/ Carretera Nº 35-A Benialí (Vall de Gallinera), 03787 in the town of Beniali. Here you will find Mediterranean cuisine with a wide variety of grilled meats and rice dishes.

The climate in Facheca

The weather in Facheca is usually sunny, just like it is everywhere on the Costa Blanca. The summer weather is usually hot with the winter temperatures can be extremely clement. But, due to the vicinity of the town in the mountains the wintertime can become very cold and is not unusual to see snow in these mountains during the coldest months. So you must be careful if you are driving these roads during the wintertime as some of them can be fairly treacherous. Rainfall during the summer in the Costa Blanca in general is something which is delighted in within this area, a rest from the continuous sunshine, but don’t be bothered because rain doesn’t take place that regularly.
