What is the location of El Campello?

El Campello is situated in the Costa Blanca, in the Alicante province between Valencia and Murcia. Some of the neighboring towns and cities are Alicante, which is only 11 kilometers to the south, Villajoyosa and Benidorm to the north, also to the south is Mutxamel and Elche, to the west is the town of Xixona , Agost, and Sant Vicent del Raspeig. To get here, your best bet is through Alicante Airport, the main airport of the province. Although if you choose to do so you have two other choices of Valencia Airport in the north and Murcia Airport in the south.

Accommodation in El Campello

You can stay in many different places here counting guest houses, El Campello hotels, self catering villas, and camping amenities. You will find El Campello accommodation to match all budgets. There is also wide mixture of houses styles in the adjacent cities of Alicante, Benidorm, and Elche and the towns of Noveida, Muxtamel , and Villajoyosa.

Renting a car in El Campello

You truly require a car to rent if you plan to check out some of the charms and amenities in this locale since there is an absolute shortage of municipal transport. You do not need to trek very far because the center of El Campello is really well catered for with plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars. An El Campello car hire is going to allow you to see a good deal more of the nearby areas, and there are some delightful parts around here. A Car can be hired from a number of companies in the locale or at one of the airports in the province.

What to see in El Campello

First of all, you can get to Alicante via a beautiful tram ride which takes about 20 minutes; this can take you straight into the centre of Alicante city. Although the lure of mass tourism has so far been resisted by El Campello, the tourist can still find some beautiful and relaxing spots in the unpretentious town. Overlooking the pretty marina is 16th century watchtower which was built as a lookout for a pending raid on the village by Berber Pirates. The method of communication was via smoke signals during the day, this warned all the other towers that were built along the coast, during the night fires were lit. The marina also hosts a busy fish market where fresh seafood can be purchased daily. The beach facilities here are excellent, and the beach itself is what you should expect from this region … long, beautiful, white sands, set against the spectacular blue Mediterranean.

The architecture of the town still has plenty of old-style character, town planners haven’t yet succumbed to the ideals of mass tourism and built apartment complexes that have blemished other coastal towns. There is only a couple of what you would call high rise buildings although the town can still boast a great deal to offer the tourist. Apart from the 16th century watchtower, El Campello also has a beautiful town hall, the house of culture which shows off the talents of local artists, and the St Theresa Church which was built in 1849. The beachfront is definitely the most attractive area of the town.

As we said before, you can visit Alicante within 20 minutes by tram, by road it is only 11 km away. You can also visit the wonderful city of Elche with its beautiful palm trees to the south, or the bustling city of Benidorm to the north where you can enjoy the nightlife or visit the fun parks at Terra Mitica and Terra Natura.

The sports enthusiast can of course head down to the beach for the normal waterskiing, snorkelling and diving, sailing, hang gliding, and all the other sports that are associated with this region. You can get involved with football, basketball, and of course the golf. El Campello golfing has a lot to offer the tourist and the residents alike with several golf courses in the area, one or two being very close.
